1. About TripVault

TripVault is a travel budget intelligence platform that helps families and groups plan trips, estimate costs, prepare for emergencies, and store travel documents. By creating an account or using TripVault, you agree to these Terms of Service.

If you do not agree to these terms, do not use TripVault.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use TripVault. By using the service you confirm that you are 16 or older. If you are using TripVault on behalf of a family or group, you confirm you have authority to bind that group to these terms.

3. Your Account

• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account
• You must provide accurate information when creating your account
• You may not share your account with others or transfer it to another person
• Notify us immediately at legal@tripvault.app if you suspect unauthorised access

4. Subscription Tiers & Payments

4.1 Available Tiers

• Free — manual budget planner, basic features, no AI, no document storage
• Family Pro (€39) — AI cost estimation, full trap database, crisis checklist, Document Vault storage
• Family Pro+ (€59) — everything in Pro plus real-time alerts, document reminders, multi-device sync
• VIP (€79) — everything in Pro+ plus Mission Intel AI advisor, passport expiry detection, group intelligence

4.2 Payment Terms

Payments are processed by Stripe. Current pricing is one-time payment per tier (not recurring subscription). Prices are in Euros and include applicable VAT where required by Finnish and EU law.

4.3 Refund Policy

Due to the digital nature of the product and immediate access to paid features on purchase, we generally do not offer refunds. However, if you experience a technical fault that prevents access to paid features and we cannot resolve it within 7 days of your report, you are entitled to a full refund. Contact legal@tripvault.app within 14 days of purchase.

Finnish and EU consumer law rights are not affected by this policy.

4.4 Price Changes

We reserve the right to change pricing. Existing tier holders will be notified by email at least 30 days before any price change affects them.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use TripVault for any unlawful purpose
• Upload documents that do not belong to you or members of your trip party
• Attempt to access other users' data
• Reverse engineer, copy, or redistribute any part of TripVault
• Use automated tools to scrape or stress-test the platform
• Upload malicious files, viruses, or harmful content to Document Vault
• Use TripVault to harass, defraud, or harm others

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without refund.

6. AI-Generated Content

TripVault uses AI to generate cost estimates, itineraries, packing lists, and travel intelligence. You acknowledge that:

• AI-generated estimates are guidance only, not guarantees
• Budget estimates may differ from actual costs due to market fluctuations, seasonality, and individual circumstances
• AI itineraries are suggestions — verify bookings, opening hours, and availability independently
• Passport expiry alerts are best-effort detection based on document metadata — always verify expiry dates manually before booking

TripVault accepts no liability for financial loss resulting from reliance on AI-generated estimates or suggestions.

7. Document Vault

Document Vault allows Pro tier and above users to store travel documents in Firebase Storage. You understand that:

• You upload documents at your own risk and should maintain independent copies of all important documents
• TripVault implements reasonable security measures but cannot guarantee absolute security
• In the event of data loss, our liability is limited to a refund of your subscription fee
• You must only upload documents that you have the right to store (your own documents and those of your trip party with their consent)

8. Intellectual Property

TripVault, the TripVault logo, and all original content created by Vault Club are our intellectual property. You may not copy, distribute, or create derivative works without written permission.

Your trip data, documents, and content remain yours. You grant us a limited licence to process and store this data solely to provide the TripVault service to you.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Finnish and EU law:

• TripVault is provided 'as is' without warranties of any kind
• We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for your current subscription tier

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under Finnish or EU law.

10. Service Availability

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not guarantee 100% uptime. We may temporarily suspend the service for maintenance, security updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We will give reasonable notice of planned maintenance where possible.

11. Termination

You may close your account at any time from the Me tab in the app or by emailing legal@tripvault.app. On termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days as described in our Privacy Policy.

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately for violation of these terms, without refund.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by Finnish law. Any disputes that cannot be resolved through our support process will be referred to the Helsinki District Court (Helsingin käräjäoikeus) as the court of first instance, unless EU consumer law requires otherwise.

As an EU consumer, you also have the right to use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

13. Changes to These Terms

We will notify you by email and in-app notice at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept the new terms, you may close your account before the effective date.
